DIDIER VAN CAUWELAERT
Achieving worldwide success, Didier Van Cauwelaert, whose work has been translated into thirty languages, has won many awards, including the prestigious French literature Goncourt Prize in 1994 for Un aller simple and the Grand Prix du Théâtre of the Académie Française for his lifetime achievement.
For the Cinema, he has written La Maison Assassinée, L’Invité Surprise and Triplex (all directed by Georges Lautner) as well as Feu sur le Candidat (directed by Agnès Delarive). He also adapted Un Aller Simple for Laurent Heynemann, starring Jacques Villeret, Barbara Schulz and Lorant Deutsch.
In 1992, he wrote and directed Les Amies de ma Femme starring Michel Leeb, Christine Boisson, Dominique Lavanant , etc.
In 2006, his novel The Education of Fairies (La educación de las hadas), was adapted and directed in Spain by Jose Luis Cuerda, starring Ricardo Darin and Irene Jacob.
In 2011, his novel Hors de moi, adapted in Hollywood, became Unknown. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring, notably, Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and January Jones, the film was an international success with a worldwide gross of more than 125 million dollars.
